Food can be the best form of medicine for many health issues, but do you know which foods you actually need to stay away from?

Sweetened Drinks – Avoid regular or diet soda, fruit drinks, energy drinks and sweetened ice teas. Not only are they full of sugar and empty calories, but they have absolutely no nutritional value and can cause fast weight gain.
Specialty coffee drinks – Sorry Starbucks lovers, but frappucinos and cappuccinos are fattening and loaded with sugar and empty calories. Try having black coffee and add almond milk or cream.
Hot dogs – These summer favorites are packed full of unhealthy fat and preservatives. Try a grilled piece of chicken instead.
Cereal – This breakfast staple is full of added sugar, processed fats and carbohydrates. Try some scrambled eggs instead.
Lunch Meat – Always opt for unprocessed deli meats, or try roasting your own meat at home!
Pancake Syrup – Did you know that pancake syrup is actually very high in carbohydrates and sugar?
Sherbert – Don’t be fooled, this delicious dessert is not a healthy alternative to ice cream. It has double the carbs compared to ice cream!
Fried food – Not only is it fattening, but it leads to high cholesterol too!
